English as Second Language (ESL)

Children learning to speak English as a Second Language (ESL) can present some challenges. At times this can be stressful for kids as they may experience high levels of anxiety. Learning the English language in a positive and safe environment helps develop the confidence they need to overcome these hurdles.

In Non-English speaking families and communities, speaking the mother tongue is extremely important for retaining their cultures. Being submerged into a new culture can be difficult for children and their families, especially the challenges of learning and understanding a new language.  Communication can hold children back as they head into their school life, and cause frustration, as they struggle to understand a new language.
